Bashir Zikria, M.D., M.Sc., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He serves in the Division of Sports Medicine at Johns Hopkins. His duties include caring for the Baltimore Orioles, Aberdeen Ironbirds, and all of the Johns Hopkins Athletics.
Dr. Zikria did his undergraduate degree at Penn State and then went on for his Masters and Medical Doctorate from Drexel University School of Medicine. His residency was at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York where he trained under the renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Chitranjan Ranawat. Dr. Zikria then did a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Miami with Dr. John Uribe. His duties included taking care of the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers, University of Miami Athletics, and many other professional athletes.
Dr. Zikria’s specialty is ligament injuries around the knee (Multiligament Injuries, ACL and PCL injuries) and also any type of meniscal work. He is also trained in arthroscopic shoulder procedures, as well as elbow arthroscopy.
Dr. Zikria works closely with his surgeon partners as well as his dedicated physician’s assistant, Kristian Kunicky, PA-C, who has many years experience as a certified athletic trainer.
